Equal Access to Maternal Healthcare in the E.U.: A Reachable Goal - Let’s Push For Action Now!
Venue: Constitution Hall, Room 328, Floor 3, Building 1, Seimas
This session aims to present the findings of a 2018 WPL research study on access to maternal healthcare in the EU28. It will also debate with experts and decision-makers at national, EU and international levels and private sector on where the real issues lie and exchange views on what can be done to improve access for vulnerable women. The research study is under the patronage of H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta. Hosted by MSD for Mothers, this session will be an opportunity to build upon previous events and activities, such as the Outcome Declaration from the first Maternal Health Meeting (held in Malta in March 2017), the policy recommendations of the European Parliament’s stakeholder workshop (in June 2017), and the interactive session at the WPL Global Annual Summit (held in Iceland in November 2017). The discussions will be based on scientific data and more qualitative insights collected as part of the WPL research project, with the goal to translate observations and recommendations into concrete actions. Let’s now PUSH all together to ensure that all mothers and mothers-to-be get access to the care they need!
