Before entering politics in 2010, Lucia Ďuriš Nicholsonová worked as an investigative and television journalist. She served in the government of Mrs. Iveta Radičová as Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Social Affairs for two years, and later as a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. In 2016, she achieved the highest number of preferential votes among female politicians in the parliamentary elections. Prior to being elected to the European Parliament, she represented the opposition as Vice President of the National Council of the Slovak Republic from 2016 to 2019. As an MEP, she chaired the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) and currently serves as a coordinator for the Renew Europe group. Additionally, she is a member of the Committees on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) and Culture and Education (CULT). Lucia Ďuriš Nicholsonová has been actively involved in important legislative files, including the directive on combating violence against women.
