Andrija Mandić, President of the Parliament of Montenegro, graduated from the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology in Podgorica.

Before his active political engagement, he was a successful entrepreneur. As director and co-owner of a joint-stock company for processing non-ferrous metals, he organized the first private production of aluminum alloys in Montenegro. In cooperation with the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology in Podgorica, he worked on designing, manufacturing, and installing equipment for aluminum casting, as well as on commercial metallurgical engineering.

He is one of the founders of the Serbian People’s Party (SNS) and was its president from 2003 to 2009. In the government of the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, he served as Deputy Minister of Economy. He was the head of the “Serbian List” coalition and its presidential candidate in the 2008 elections.

By merging the former Serbian People’s Party and the People’s Socialist Party of Momir Bulatović on January 24, 2009, the New Serbian Democracy (Nova srpska demokratija) was established. Andrija Mandić has led this political organization since then, which was the strongest opposition party and, from that date, the ruling party with the largest number of parliamentary seats.

Since 2012, he has been a founder and member of the presidency of the Democratic Front. He was the head of the “Democratic Front – Us or Them” list in the 2016 parliamentary elections.

In the 2020 parliamentary elections, together with the coalition “For the Future of Montenegro,” he defeated the regime of Milo Đukanović and, along with other party leaders in this alliance and the rest of the opposition at the time, removed the DPS government for the first time since 1989.

From 2001 to 2020, he was a member of the Parliament of Montenegro. In the 2020 parliamentary elections, at the request of Metropolitan Amfilohije, he gave up his parliamentary mandate and place on the candidate list to another person.

He was a member of the Montenegro Parliament delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, as well as a member of the Constitutional Committee, the Security and Defense Committee, the Anti-Corruption Committee, and a member of the delegation in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. He served as chairman of inquiry committees and commissions for controlling the privatization process.
